Men in Blue

This is a video I made for our final Speech project of my senior year at Union High School. The idea was to make fun of cops who took things to the extreme. This is literally “reno 911″ a few years before the show came out. I’m guessing they got their idea from us. Either way, it was blast to make and the outtakes are even funnier than the video. There are a few inside jokes in the video based on other groups’ speeches earlier in the year, but you should be able to follow most of it.

Rattlesnake Weekend at Little Sahara

This is a video I made while at Rattlesnake Weekend at Little Sahara State Park a number of years ago. Two of our friends ride race quads on a team and they took us there so we could push the limits of our hunting four wheelers. Needless to say, it was an unforgettable time and I see why they call this weekend “Sturgis for Four-Wheelers.” We didn’t stay long enough to hunt any rattlesnakes, but their is always next time!

Speedstacks Exhibition

So one weekend in Kansas City my mother-in-law brought some speedstacks from her PE CLass. Needless to say, I had a little too much fun doing things with them they were never intended for. I built some incredible structures and had a lot of fun simply knocking them down. My wife just shook her head, but for a kid who grew up playing with building blocks, this was heaven!

Reunion of Longtime Friends

On a labor day weekend a few years back I was reunited with my best friends from high school. I had just left for Chiropractic school and several of them had moved away so this was an absolute blast of a time. Little did I know that my best childhood friend was going to propose to his girlfriend. We happened to be there at a good time with a video camera and I eventually photographed their wedding. Good times!

The top 10 reasons to work an FCA camp

I was commissioned to make this video in 2007 for FCA’s annual college night out. Historically, I had made videos each and every year for FCA and this year was my first year to build one on a MAC. This was by far the best FCA video I ever made and it was a hit with the college kids. My wife and I had just been engaged and then married, which made the video even sweeter

FCA Camp Rules Video 2006

A video I made in 2006 to teach those junior high boys how to behave at FCA Camp. Hats off to the brave men who had no regards for their own safety while making this video. This truly was a fun video to make and the kids died laughing during the entire thing. This set up a great week of camp that was topped off by my proposal to Ali. See our video page to view that one!

FCA Camp 2005 Promo Video

For years, the FCA staff was puzzled why I always carried around a video camera at camp. Five years after my first camp, I gave them the answer. I created this video to show at FCA College night out to create interest in becoming a huddle leader. The video was a big hit and we saw a lot of new faces that following summer. I’ve made a string of FCA Videos throughout the years, but this one covers the most crazy stuff!

A Jedi’s Revenge (Part 1 in a series of 3)

This was the first of three FCA Star Wars videos we made at camp. Each one became more elaborate than the last and the campers loved them! The huddle leaders had a few free hours each night and it was during this time that these ridiculous videos were written and filmed. We did not rely on visual effects whatsoever, we were hoping to wow people with pure content.

The Sith Return (Part 2 in a series of 3)

This was the second of three Star Wars videos we made at camp. This time it was a pure showdown between huddle leaders Terry Grayson and myself. There was a bit of adult humor slipped in after we showed it at camp thanks to the brilliance of Jake Ehrlich. This was a great video to make with the exception of Terry getting hit in the face with a basketball.

The Attack of the Sith (Part 3 in a series of 3)

This is the dramatic conclusion of the three FCA Star Wars videos we made during camps. We pulled out all of the stops this time. We put campers in the video, explored surrounding buildings, added some special effects and even made a training montage. This was an absolute blast to film and the series was concluded in dramatic FCA fashion. This is a hilarious video and hope you take the time to watch it!

Chris Barnes Cox Cable Exclusive

This is a cool segment that Cox Cable did on me during the pre game show of the 2000 regular season Jenks and Union game. This game is considered the greatest football game in Oklahoma High School history. People still talk about this game all of the time. It would have been nice if we had won, but I think on that night Kejuan Jones was destined to make that long run with 21 seconds left in the game. Either way, it was a cool segment and I’m glad that I got to play in that historical game.

Football Pep Assembly Skit

The morning of the Clovis California game (our first game of my senior year) a group of us football guys performed a skit in the old high school gym. I’m not sure who came up with the ballerina theme but it was pretty funny and the students went crazy. We went on to shut out Clovis that night 36-0 and I recorded a record 4 sacks in only three quarters. This is one of the most memorable days of my life and I wouldn’t mind doing it over a few more times.

All I want for Christmas

When you play football at NEO, you are given very little free time. With that free time you have to be very strategic in what you do. I chose to make videos with my free time and it helped get me through two of the most grueling years of my life. In this video, we wanted to get the team in the Christmas spirit by ripping off Mariah Carey’s music video and remixing it for NEO. There is one scene in the video that will be confusing to people who do not know the two men fighting for Santa’s affection. They are Jared Green and Jared “Pink” Mason. We should have thought that through when shooting the video, but I guess we never intended to show it to anyone but NEO folk.

James Kilian’s Boise State Speech

In 2004, Tulsa quarterback James Kilian made a heck of a speech at a pep rally. He was tired of hearing about #7 Boise State and the 20+ games they had won in a row. He got pretty fired up and threw the podium off the stage (which angered several misguided Tulsa students.) We ended up losing to Boise State with a magical 50+ yard field goal at the buzzer. Winning against Boise would have easily been the highlight of the season. With that last loss to Boise we left the WAC conference and did not see Boise again until the 2011 preseason.

Moments after I had a kidney stone removed

In 2006 I suffered a tremendous kidney stone attack in the middle of FCA camp in Kingston, OK. Needless to say I left camp and thought I had passed the stone. For nearly 8 months I had random pain in my kidneys once a month or so. I thought perhaps some of the stone was yet to pass. Boy was I right, there was a 10mm stone stuck in my bladder that had to be removed surgically. I paced through the hospital for about an hour waiting on the ER to admit me. I was scheduled for surgery for the following week and the video shown here is what happened when I went to the bathroom for the first time after the surgery. Yeah, it’s kind of gross, but I was high on painkillers.

Ali and an exercise ball vs Chris

Ali and I started dating in the summer of 2005 and this was one of the very first times we hung out. In fact, this may be the first time I was ever at her house. I have no idea where this idea even came from but it could have ended very badly if we hadn’t made Ali a little crash pad. This video never gets old!

Goofing off at the hunting lease

In the fall of 2005 I invited Ali along to our hunting lease to help me get my tree stand set up. At the time I wasn’t entirely aware of how big of a nerd she was. This day solidified her nerviness in my eyes and I have been enchanted by her sense of humor ever since. No animals were harmed in the making of this film, however there was a very pretty 8 point buck that was harvested about 30 yards from the tree stand just a few months later. Ali was there with a camera, but she forgot to film that moment. That would have been a crazy video!

Lacey vs the Smith & Wesson 500 Magnum

After Lacey had conquered shooting a Glock .45 she decided that she wanted to try her hand at the Smith & Wesson 500 magnum. This is the most powerful production handgun in the world. I can’t remember what bullets we were using but they were either 440 or 500 grain bullets. I did my absolute best to hold her wrists but the gun was so powerful that I slipped right off of her. She easily could have broken her nose but I thought she could handle the gun with how strong she was. Needless to say, we didn’t shoot it again!

OSU and the Nations greatest Homecoming Weekend

When Ali and I were dating she continuously ranted about how great the OSU homecoming is. She didn’t hardly talk to me on the phone for a week because she was pomping continuously. I had no idea what “pomping” was but soon found out when I joined them at OSU to see the famous house decks and exactly what could be made from “pomping.” I was seriously surprised by how cool the whole experience was. This video was shot in 2006 and I have visited a few times since, I’m continually amazed at how this homecoming gets better every single year!

OSU Bid Day 2005

Utter chaos was unleashed on a fall day in 2005 as the Pi Phi house was overrun with hundreds of girls who were rushing. I had never seen anything so crazy in my entire life. I could not believe how big of a deal girls made getting into a house but I guess their entire social future depends on it. I was not in a house but rather lived in a football dorm. I guess that’s kind of a frat house in itself except that we don’t haze each other because that would be stupid.

The Steps of Philly

A short clip I made from my first visit to Philadelphia. Dr. Peterson and I went to shoot a commercial of patient Jayson Werth. We had a little time the next morning so I insisted that we check out the steps of the art museum. Like millions before me, I ran the steps and realized my destiny!

Tulsa gets a Krispy Kreme

During the summer before my senior year of high school Tulsa got a Krispy Kreme. You would have thought that the world was ending as hundreds and hundreds of people abandoned their homes and jobs to sit in the parking lot of Krispy Kreme for DAYS! All of the news crews came to witness the hysteria! If people wanted Krispy Kreme donuts this bad, I don’t know why they didn’t just drive a few hours down the road to Norman, OK. Oh well, it made for an entertaining drive!

Roommate Raslin

Ok, this video is just plain ridiculous. My roommate Justin and I were extremely bored one night at NEO and had just reminisced about the movie “NO HOLDS BARRED” starring Hulk Hogan and “Zeus.” For whatever reason we decided to reenact this ridiculous movie! I promise that my fascial expressions throughout this movie are an accurate depiction of Hulk Hogan throughout the entirety of the movie. We even had our own referee present. This was the first of many stupid NEO videos, most of which I refuse to put online. However, since this was the first video I made at NEO and Justin is one of my favorite people in the world, I went ahead and uploaded it.
