Yesterday I shot my last wedding of the 2010 season and perhaps the last one for at least a year. I spent Thanksgiving and “Black Friday” with my family in Oklahoma and then flew back early Saturday morning out of OKC. I drove out to the lovely quiet town of Weston, Missouri. I met up with Rob and Leah and we walked around town for about an hour to get some fun shots before the wedding. I was not booked for the entire evening so there were no reception shots so I had to try and get some great shots early. Weston provided some beautiful spots all within a few hundred yards. Rob and Leah were a blast to work with and made my job a lot easier! Check out their entire wedding album HERE. This is my 3rd 24-Hour photo turnaround this past year. I have to be one of the fastest turnaround guys in the business. I have turned down nearly 20 inquiries to shoot weddings this next year. I’m starting into Chiropractic practice and will need to focus my attention on that first and foremost. I do plan to try and do a few weddings a year as a chiropractor but I’ll be much more selective of what I shoot. It has been one heck of a learning experience these last two years learning to shoot weddings. I’ve learned 95% of everything by trial and error. My personal wedding photographer got me started, but he lives too far to help me on a continuous basis. I think I get a little better each time and if I had a trained assistant, I think I could really do some great work! Who knows what the future holds. I’ll be focusing on HDSLR video for a while. I’ll be using my Canon 5D Mark II to film video. This is much harder than photography and will be essential in promoting our Chiropractic office. I’m getting pretty close on our 4-year anniversary video, so look back for that within two weeks. Our anniversary is on December 16th. It’s absolutely amazing to me that four years have already flown by! I wanted to once again thank all of the couples who have let me photograph their special days. It was a pleasure to do so and I will surely miss shooting weddings this next year. -Barnezy-
