This past weekend my wife and I had the privilege of covering Alex and Marcela’s wedding day. I took the photos and Ali took care of the video duties as well as lending me a hand a time or two throughout the day. Alex is a friend of mine from Cleveland Chiropractic College in KC and Marcela is a newly graduated dental hygienist. They will be starting their married life together with a move to Colorado where Alex and my good friend Alan will be opening up a chiropractic practice together. You may remember Alex and Marcela from their park and downtown engagement sessions. Needless to say, they are a very easy couple to photograph. Their wedding took place at Loose Park in Kansas City and the reception was held at the Uptown Theater near downtown Kansas City. We got started a little late with taking photos which is becoming all but routine these days. I had planned on taking several photos with my new White Lightning strobe but time didn’t allow. I think the candids we took of the couple (without the strobe) were some of the best shots of the day so I can’t complain too much. The White Lightning X3200 is a little heavy to lug around but it sets up quick and the results are simply tremendous! I had enough juice to underexpose the sky by two stops at 3pm. The onboard beauty dish almost makes the subjects glow! Like any wedding, there were little mistakes that I made throughout the day, but overall it was a great day of shooting. I think the couple’s love for one another was well represented in the photos and that’s what I try to capture with my photography. You can order photos from their entire album HERE. On another note, I’m not sure that I will be shooting any weddings this next season. I will shoot about 10 weddings this season and I just don’t know that I will have time when I’m starting my chiropractic career next summer. I may have to limit my weddings next year to just one or two. I will continue to take photos and shoot video, but the weddings may be put on the backburner for a year or so. I think this will give me some much needed time with my wife as we start our new jobs in Tulsa. I still have two or three weddings to shoot this season and I’m very excited about those for sure! I’m currently on my trimester recess and I’m absolutely loving the break! I take part II and part III boards next week. I’m not excited about that at all, but it will put me one step closer to graduating! I hope all of you Clevelanders are enjoying your breaks! Congratulations to Alex and Marcela and I wish you two the best of luck starting your new life together! -Barnezy-
