The September/October issue of Oklahoma Sports and Fitness Magazine features a good friend of mine on the cover. Through the ministry of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, I’ve had the pleasure of being friends with Kelsey Bennett for many years. She’s a remarkable young woman with a rigorous academic schedule but still somehow finds time to be a competitive runner. Whats equally as cool about this cover is that it was shot by me. This is my first ever magazine cover shot. There were other photos that I submitted that were better technically than this photo, however the editor chose to use this shot of Kelsey based on her facial expression and how the shot fit the magazine’s template. I’ve been working with Sean Call; the magazine’s new owner/editor and he’s been gracious enough to allow me to use images from his publication. His team has really taken the magazine up a notch since buying the magazine a few short months ago. The quality of this publication rivals many nationally circulated fitness magazines that I’ve read. This current issue features several of my photos throughout the magazine. Thanks to Oklahoma Sports and Fitness Magazine for allowing me the use of these images on my webpage. You can pick the magazine up free of charge at many Tulsa area restaurants, gas stations, athletic stores etc…
On another note, I finished trimester 8 of 10 and Part II & III Board reviews this past week. I’m shooting a wedding this weekend for a fellow Cleveland Chiropractic student. I recently purchased a White Lightning X3200 flash with portable power so I should be able to get some pretty unique outdoor portraits this weekend. I’ll post about this new lighting setup soon. I’m looking forward to a few days of break before I have to engage in Part II & III boards on September 11th. I hope everyone is winding down their summer and looking forward to fall. I need some football! -Barnezy-
